Boardman's cast pewter flagons are first-in-class among  American ecclesiasical pewterware of the early 1800s.  This 3=quart example  amply exemplies their outstanding design and construction, which follow emulate the finest London spire flagons of the colonial era.  It iis in excellent condition and well-signed  with several name and quality marks used by Thomas Danforth Boardman throughout his working career in Hartford, Conn. 1806-1877.  His brother Sherman Boardman--the "SB" of the "TD&SB" mark--died in 1861.
