The splendid design of the tall, pear-shaped coffeepots produced by Allen Porter and later by his brother Freeman make them welcome additions to any collection of antique American pewter. This example is especially nice in its being struck with the rarely-found Allen Porter "EX" name/quality mark. This is the only example I've seen of that mark in 30+ years. It was first reported in 1977 from a similar coffeepot handled by Celia Jacobs Stevenson (see PCCA Bulletin, Vol. 7, p. 238). This is the taller of the two sizes of Porter pots of this style.: Excellent condition, Height: 11 1/2", light grey original surface patina.
